Fitzroy Boutique Launch Party

Last night Kristin and I went to the launch party for Fitzroy Boutique, a pop up shop that was created by one of my good friends Julie Buczkowski & her friend Ange Pastor.  Located at 162 Cumberland, the shop will be open for the month of September.

Fitzroy Boutique is named after the bohemian Melbourne, AUS neighborhood that houses the trendiest shops in the city.  It will carry unique, fun, easy effortless clothing that isn’t widely available in Toronto.

I want this dress for TIFF next week!

The clothes they have are goregous and the lines they currently carry are:

Bardot
BB Dakota
Boyod
Brandy Melville
Fieldguided
Greylin
Ladakh
One Teaspoon
Psalms
Show Me Your Mumu
Species (sp.) by Sarah Donofrio
Threads For Thought
Whitney Eve

Jules is a babe and she has great style.  These were her shoes “business in the front & party in the back”. <3

It was a great night and I finally got to catch up with Julie and see some other former SO girls, Char and Kathy AND finally got to meet Jule’s mom.

Stop by their shop this TIFF week to check out their merchandise and pick up something cute to wear.  I’ll be shopping this weekend for sure!

If you do check them out, make sure to tell them that you saw it on carlyanne.com and tell the girls I say hi!

p.s. I stole all the photos from the Fitzroy Boutique FB Album click the link to view the rest.

Summer 2011 Wish List

I’m going shopping this afternoon for some new Summer clothes and here is my Wish List so far

SEXY MEN, SEXY FASHIONS and SEXY BASTARD SOCKS??

I received an invite to the Buckler SS/11 Preview last week but was unable to attend because I’m out of town.  So I asked my photographer friend Randi Lotsberg if she would go to take photos and do a guest post.  Thanks so much lady and I’m glad you had fun!

SEXY MEN, SEXY FASHIONS and SEXY BASTARD SOCKS??
by Randi Lotsberg

I had the pleasure of attending the Buckler Spring/Summer ’11 Collection Preview on Tuesday, April 4th at the Buckler Toronto Store.  I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect when I arrived and I was uber pumped when I was told “The models are over there, there are the outfits to choose from, dress them how you wish, take photos and have fun”.  Really?? At that moment I had a flash back of being a little girl, my very own life size Ken dolls to dress however I please…

The Andrew Buckler Spring/Summer 2011 collection was inspired by Bauhaus school and the 1924 Olympics. Creating a very modern style mixed with antiqued charm for the hip urban man seeking a
sophisticated, sharp look that can be dressed up or kept casual. The store offers everything the modern man needs for his wardrobe shorts, jeans, suits, blazers, t-shirts, sweater vests ( which look lovely on
women as well), cardigans, shoes, boots, underwear, socks, swim shorts, wallets, ties, bags and my fave the Sexy Bastard argyle socks.

Andrew Buckler has created an exquisite collection of men’s fashion that will have you wanting more, and exemplifies quality vs quantity You can feel the quality the second your hand makes contact with
the garments and the clothing isn’t mass produced so you won’t be bumping into a mirrored image of yourself in the city.

To keep with the 1920’s inspiration I felt it was suiting to give my photos a classic feel. Guys if you are looking to find your inner sexy bastard check out www.andrewbuckler.com or Buckler @ 700 Queen
Street West Toronto.

I met with Morgan from Birds of Wales earlier this week and he invited me to come see his band  open for The Watchmen at the Horseshoe last night.

Morgan brought me a Winnie The Pooh. Good way to start a meeting :)

I went with Rhianne and we had a really good time, didn’t get home last night til 4am and I’m pretty tired today. It was both of our first time seeing Birds of Wales and they are really good live.  Ended up bumping into my friend Rose, who does Morgan’s hair and works at Brennen Demelo and it was a really fun night.  I hadn’t seen The Watchmen play in probably 10 years and it was such a good show.  Definitely brought back high school nostalgia :) (hi to anyone from Brock who reads this).   We hung around til the end and went to Lakeview with Morgan, his guitar player & girlfriend and I had my 3rd breakfast meal of the day.  Pretty awesome night.

This afternoon I got to hang out with my Mom.  It was so nice to spend the time together just the two of us.  We went to the Clothing Show, thanks to Marie for the tickets and designer envelope :) I got a really nice sweater dress from Embody and the girls at the booth were so nice.  The photo is me with the owner Tara White.

I need to go have a nap now cause I’m wiped and Diggy is DJ-ing at Tattoo tonight.  I’d like to go but it depends if I wake back up tonight or sleep right through.

Here is a video of Birds of Wales performing “Not All Musicians Are Broke”.  Have one of The Watchmen too but it’s taking forever to upload.  Will post it and the photos tomorrow.

Things I Want: ModCloth

I’m a little addicted to Polyvore.  It’s so perfect for online window shopping.  I can save all my finds and then share them with you.

Here are my favourite dresses from ModCloth, a really cute online store that was started by high school sweethearts, Eric Koger and Susan Gregg Koger, back when they were 17!  They have vintage-inspired pieces by indie designers as well as true vintage items.

Things I Want: Hot Heels & Boots

SD + R Fashion Show

On Sunday March 28  SD+R Clothing (Sex, Drugs & Rock n’ roll) had their fashion show at Tattoo Rock Parlour.  I’m a big fan of the SD + R guys and they made me a custom hoodie to wear to the show!  It’s pretty awesome and a great representation of the rock n’ roll feel of their line.  Of course it has pink in it, and what you can’t really see is that the ties for the hood are made of chain with little guns on the end. (excuse my hungover face)

SD + R is a clothing line and they custom-make pieces of deconstructed and reconstructed apparel.

Their bikinis & bathing suits are hot and made me realize I really need to get in shape for the summer season.  I didn’t get a lot of good pictures, but here are some of them the turned out well.

UPDATE: The bikinis/swimwear are by Sarah Scotford (thanks Michelle) and I am absolutely IN LOVE with them.

Black bikini with gold studs

They had a few of their celebrity clients in the show, most noticeably James Latkowski, a former Canadian Wrestler (WWE?  I’m not sure of his wrestling name) and he was also in the film Poker Night with my sister.

This girl was super hot and her outfits were my favorites.

I want all three of these outfits.  Wish I had’ve gotten better photos, but that just means you’ll have to check out their store front at 316 Adelaide St W.

The boys are looking sharp.  From L-R: Drew & Chad from Hail the Villain, Kap (DWW), Shaun & Diggy (DWW).

UPDATE: Here’s are links to the SD+R photos from the show. one two three

Shkank.com is Live!

Some fun news to share. A project that I have been working on has just launched it’s newly redesigned website in time for the holidays, Shkank.com. If you haven’t been to the Shkank store on Yonge St you have to get down there. The dresses and designs make you feel like a kid in a candy store. They will work with you to create a custom dress or you can choose from one of their many “one-of-a-kind” pieces. The designers, Rod Philpott, Phi and Trevor are very talented and creative guys who can whip up the most insane outfits in a matter of hours.

Check out their completely redesigned site, done by The Digital Beach and make sure you if you are in Toronto you take a trip to the store to check it out, you will not be disappointed. Make sure you tell them Carly sent you
