Nature Clean & a giveaway

When Nature Clean asked me to be a part of their sampling program and try out their new Pure Nourishment shampoo & conditioner and Refresh soap  I said yes right away.  I’m a fan of their cleaning products and had no idea they made beauty products as well.  Nature Clean is a Canadian, third generation, family run company that makes non-toxic alternatives to household products and that is my favourite kind of brand.  I’ve been making a conscious effort lately to replace products with greener versions and I hate that there are so many different chemicals in beauty products.  I also like to use Canadian made products as much as possible.

The shampoo & conditioner are both 98% natural ingredients and have no parabens, sulphates and phthalates and I really like them both.  The shampoo doesn’t lather which I found hard to get used to at first, but it leaves your hair nice and clean feeling without a residue.  The conditioner goes on smooth and it makes my hair feel soft and clean.  I’ve had to use a deep conditioner a couple times because I kinda fried the ends of my hair by dying it twice in a week, but otherwise have used the Nature Clean exclusively.  I haven’t had a chance to try the soap yet but it smells amazing.  I’ll be reviewing all the products on my ChickAdvisor profile and will Tweet/FB when they’re up.

They also sent me a bunch of 60mL bottles of shampoo and conditioner to give away to family and friends and I’ve got 10 packs to give away to you guys.  For this giveaway you have to live in Canada, sorry guys, but I can’t send stuff like this over the border.  If you want one all you have to do is leave a comment on this post and tell me if you have ever tried a Nature Clean product before.  There’s no wrong answer and the first 10 people to comment will win :)

Also, if you’d like to share your opinion on the products, you can send me a write up and I’ll post it on my blog :)

How About You?

Sarah Von of Yes and Yes (you may recall her blog from my Show & Tell posts) has a very honest and inspiring post today and I thought it would be a great idea to share here as well.

Her post is called “All The Ways That We Are Adorable” and was brought on by a discussion on the Every Buddy boards about going out in public without makeup.  One commenter posted that she was lucky enough to have long dark lashes that didn’t require mascara, but then wrote Why is it so hard to say nice things about yourself? Especially physically? *sigh*”

Sarah decided that it’s time to say nice things about ourselves and posted five great things.  I added to her comments and I think we all could use a little boost .

So I want to know – what do you love about yourself?  What makes you different and makes you stand out?

My answer was:

  • I am small and thin
  • I have blue eyes that change colour depending on my mood (blue, green, gray)
  • I have a crazy, high-pitched laugh but my voice sounds really good when I sing.

and I want to add

  • I love my ski jump nose
  • I love how I look in a bikini now
  • and I love that my hair is getting longer!

Can’t wait to read your responses!

Kandee’s Lemon & Sugar Scrub for Perfect Skin

I love Kandee Johnson’s makeup tutorials and her blog and YouTube videos are so positive and inspiring.  She’s got lots of great tips and tricks to make you look your best.  In May she posted a quick & easy Lemon & Sugar Scrub for perfect looking skin and it really does make your skin soft and helps to clear up blemishes.  I’ve added it to my skincare routine and wanted to share it with you.

Make sure you check out Kandee’s YouTube for more great skin care & makeup tips.

100% Pure Makeup

My friends at The Shopping Channel sent me some really great products to try out and today I used the 100% Pure makeup for the first time.   I was really excited to try out chemical free, vegan friendly cosmetics and I have to say that I was impressed with the quality.

My base was MAC Studio Moisture Tint in Light and MAC NW20 Studio Finish Concealor.  For my eyes I used the Fruit Pigmented Eye Shadow in Vanilla Sugar and applied with the Cruelty Free Eye Shadow Brush, which didn’t pick up the shadow that well and I had to apply three times; Creamy Pencil Eye Liner in Champagne, a thick pencil that glided on nice and smooth; and Fruit Pigmented Ultra Lengthening Mascara in Black Tea.  The mascara was my favourite out of the eye makeup and it lengthened and curled my lashes.  I would definitely recommend this mascara and I’m going to use it as my main one.

I dusted the Fruit Pigmented Blush in Strawberry using the Cruetly Free Blush Brush on my cheekbones and I found that this brush worked better then the eyeshadow one.  I’m not that impressed with the brushes and I’m going to test them out using other products to see if they work differently or better.  I finished my look with the Fruit Pigmented Lip Gloss in Pink Berry and I loved this as well.  The colour went on nice and smooth and my lips feel moisturized.

I really like the idea of vegan makeup and it would be great if I could replace some of my non-vegan cosmetics, specifically my face makeup.  I browsed the 100% Pure site to see what they had and I’d be interested in trying out the Luminous Primer, Fruit Pigmented Tinted Moisturizer, Healthy Flawless Skin Face Powder,  and the Fruit Pigmented Gel Eyeliners.

Do you use any vegan or natural ingredient cosmetics or whatever is on sale?

Maybelline EyeStudio from Matchstick

I had been seeing some of the other blog girls oohing and aahing over their Maybelline EyeStudio kits from Matchstick all last week and I was sad that I didn’t get mine, but today it was delievered to my house and I am so freaking excited!  A whole kit of eye makeup and a chance to create new looks with Maybelline’s new EyeStudio Collection.  Thank goodness that Chad is already gone for the day so I can play makeup for the afternoon :)

The only downside is that Harley was not impressed that this delivery was not for him, and he couldn’t fit inside the box…hahaha…. he really tried but it’s only big enough for his head.
