It has been way too long since I’ve done a show & tell post. I’ve been collecting links like crazy (with the help of Pony) but just haven’t had the time to put them to paper blog.
Life is good, working harder then ever and looking forward to this long weekend and the summer. Do you have anything interesting or exciting planned? We’re doing our annual Girls Weekend aka HoreFest! I didn’t get to go last year because I was still in Florida and I can’t wait to take Jason up for the weekend.
Fukushima is Falling Apart – why is this not at the top of our news. Why are we more concerned with celebrities then our environment, our health and our future!!!!!
Having a bit of a Green theme this week so here’s David Suzuki’s End your toxic relationship with household cleaners – again, why are we mass producing toxins and selling them to the public when there are healthy, effective, green solutions?
Homophones may be hidden Homosexuals – umm, yes? Doesn’t this make sense? How can you possibly hate someone who is in LOVE and has found their partner or soulmate? Is this any different then when African Americans were discriminated against? What the F@%$ is the problem people?
Coming back from vacation in the middle of the week means that you are SUPER BUSY for the rest of it, but fortunately I got a sub for lunch around the corner and have just enough time left to put up a show & tell. Hope you have all been enjoying the beautiful weather. It looks like we’re gonna have some rain and cooler temps for the weekend, but at least SPRING IS HERE!
My friend Jesse (formerly singer of Automatic) has a new band Jesse Taylor & The Atlantics a great new sound and a new album that you can download off their website for free! Check it out and come out to his show on April 25 at Clintons.
Thanks for reminding me to post these videos William!
You might remember I posted about Morgan Cameron Ross opening for Rumer at The Mod Club a few weeks ago. I promised to post the Rumer videos I shot but life seriously gets in the way of my blogging! I’m not complaining. I absolutely love my job and what I get to do but it is definitely cutting into my blogging time
Rumer was brilliant. I loved her sound and her band as well. Check her out if you have a chance.
Here are live performances of Am I Forgiven and Take Me As I Am.
On Mon Feb 13, Jason and I went on a date to see Morgan Cameron Ross play at the Mod Club. He opened for a girl named Rumer (Elton John is a big fan) but I hadn’t heard of her until the show. It was my first night out to see live music since we saw Morgan open for Third Eye Blind at Echo Beach this summer, and of course Brock was there too Morgan played without a band and I really liked the raw sound of just the guitar. Oh yeah, and Morgan if Holly isn’t available I’m so in to sing her part on Hold On To Your Heart – one of my favourite songs off the album.
Here’s the live version of My Brother Went to Prison – which is a song that’s video is banned in Quebec for being too sexual
And here’s a live version of “Let It Go”, his last song of the night.
If you haven’t heard any of Morgan’s solo stuff you should check him out online and download his album “Let It Go” on iTunes
I’ll post the videos of Rumer tomorrow. She was amazing and such a strong singer. You’ll love her!
Can you believe that it’s the middle of February? And that Valentines Day is next week? So far 2012 has been a bit of a slow, hard year but it’s getting better every day, in my opinion. I have been crazy busy with work this week and also got out to some events, which I have yet to post about because I can’t find my battery charger, camera cord or card reader to download the photos! Morgan Cameron Ross was AMAZING at the Mod Club (as usual) and I got to hear the newest songstress out of the UK – Rumer (I promise I will find my stuff to upload this weekend!) Mom & I also went to the Pure + Simple Rosacea Skincare launch and I had a work hang/dinner date with Miss Hummel who I missed SOO much.
Today is going to be crazy busy as Friday’s tend to be so here is your Show & Tell:
It’s been a year since the Tsunami in Japan and the National Post had a brilliant article yesterday with photos of the before and after. It’s amazing to see the devastation and how barren it looks in some places.
Whether you like Howard Stern or hate him you need to listen to what he says on his show this week about all the Anti-Gay hate that is running rampant in middle America. I want every single person to stand up for what is right and share this message #NOH8
This week has been crazy busy with moving and unpacking. Yesterday we got a brand new mattress & boxspring from Sears and had the best sleep ever last night. I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning at all. It’s a pain in the butt not being able to find things yet but I’m going to spend the whole weekend unpacking and organizing so come help! I also lost my computer this morning because I put it on a shelf in the closet where it would be safe and I would remember where I left it. Haha. Took me about 10 minutes of frantic searching before I remembered.
I’ve got to get out the door so I’ll make it to the office on time so here are your Show & Tell links for the week.
Hope you all have a great weekend and seriously come help me unpack!
I’ve been reading Letters of Note lately and it’s a pretty interesting site. This letter from March of 1973 by E. B. White — the author of such books as Stuart Little and Charlotte’s Web — in response to a letter from a Mr. Nadeau, who sought his opinion on what he saw as a bleak future for the human race. “As long as there is one upright man, as long as there is one compassionate woman, the contagion may spread and the
scene is not desolate.“
Full Tool concert video from their stop in Reno on Jan 14/12. I’m sooo sad I missed out on seeing them in Toronto. Tool is AMAZING live and thanks to this guy who filmed the ENTIRE SHOW!!
Mashable has a great infographic about SOPA & The Film Industry :
Ooohhhh is this spooky day for you or what? I’ve said this before, but Friday the 13th doesn’t usually feel like a scary or unlucky day for our family because my little bro was born on a Friday the 13th and I actually like this day I woke up to the first real snow we’ve had this winter and my first time to drive a standard car in the show. Luckily I thought to call Kyle for advice before heading out.
Here’s my first Show & Tell of 2012 and it’s a little light but hope you like it.
I started reading the She Knows site last year and it’s got lots of interesting articles. I’m not big into New Years Resolutions but the article Top 5 Financial Resolutions To Make This Year is on my To Do list
I absolutely HATE taxidermy and apparently this has seen a resurgence as it’s trendy again to decorate your home with dead animals. But then Regretsy posted about Shauna Richardson’s Crochetdermy and it’s brilliant!
My co-worker shared this article with me earlier this week and though most companies wouldn’t agree I think it’s a great idea. Give Your Employees Unlimited Vacation Days – now this does have the potential to be abused but as Red Frog’s owner has a great answer for this “If [employees are] incapable of handling the responsibility that comes along with having unlimited vacation days, they’re probably incapable of handling other responsibilities too, so don’t hire them.”
I’m sure most of you have seen this on FB the past week. I finally watched it yesterday and couldn’t wait to post it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.
Walk Off The Earth did an amazing cover of Goyte’s Somebody That I Used To Know. Now this is pure talent and I think these guys are going to go far. I can’t wait to see them play live!
Last night I cooked an American Thanksgiving dinner for my man, my parents and my brother and sister. I hadn’t cooked at Turkey in forever and they all said it turned out amazing! I’ll post my yummy recipes on Monday and you should definitely try them out. Today is going to be another crazy busy day and then it is Jason’s last weekend in Canada before he goes back to FMB. I’m going to miss him so much I can’t even stand it, but c’est la vie. He’ll be back in April. Today’s Show & Tell is short and sweet cause I’ve got to get my butt to the office!
Oh Nickelback – not many people admit to liking them – I’m not afraid to say that I’ve got a few songs on my iPod by them – you might have heard there was a petition going around protesting them playing at the Football game yesterday – here’s a great take on it by Alan Cross
