The show was emcee’d by Beverley Thomson, Co-Host of Canada AM, CBCF Spokesperson & survivor of breast cancer.
We heard a moving speech by Quebec fashion journalist Lolitta Dandoy about her own battle with breast cancer in her late 20’s. It really hits home to hear of someone close to your age who has been diagnosed and survived.
This year’s collection was curated by Canadian fashion designer Farley Chatto and paid hommage to Classic Hollywood Glamour.
There were 15 established and emerging Canadian designers with creations from bridal and evening wear, to jewelry and, for the first time ever, footwear and children’s wear. It is absolutely amazing to see these intricate designs all crafted from Cashmere Bathroom Tissue. The show even featured an Aerial Silks peformance that was breath taking!
It is heart warming to know that 100+ Canadian designers have lent their talents to this oh-so-important cause since the Collection debuted in 2004. The 2012 Collection features designs from Anomal Couture by Sonia Leclair, David Jack, Izzy Camilleri, Adrian Wu, Ashtiani by Golnaz Ashtiani, Rodney Philpott Designs (Rod is one of my all-time favourite people as well), LABEL by Shawna Robinson and Natalie Sydoruk, LuShyne by Lucci Rojas, Laura Siegel, Al Shakour by Suhaila Niazi, Cara Cheung, DRōN by Joël Bissonnette, MMCrystal by Michelle Merizzi, Jewelry by Karen McFarlane and shoes designed by Yvonne Lin for Town Shoes.
