Last night was my annual Dad/daughter hockey game. Unfortunately Dad got sick and couldn’t go so he gave Jason his ticket. It was his last night in Toronto so it ended up being a pretty great last night date.
The Leafs lost the game in the first 12 seconds when The Panthers scored the 1st goal and I was ready to leave at the 2:45 mark when they scored again but us Leafs fans are gluttons for punishment. It ended up being a fun game but I’ve never seen so many NHL players trip over their own feet or been unable to receive a pass before. Final score was 5-3 Panthers.
We got home just after 10 and were up again at 4am to drive Jason to the airport. I tried to suck it up and not cry but damn I miss him already. Only a couple of tears and I’m gonna go down for a visit mid-March so it’s not too far away.
On Mon Feb 13, Jason and I went on a date to see Morgan Cameron Ross play at the Mod Club. He opened for a girl named Rumer (Elton John is a big fan) but I hadn’t heard of her until the show. It was my first night out to see live music since we saw Morgan open for Third Eye Blind at Echo Beach this summer, and of course Brock was there too Morgan played without a band and I really liked the raw sound of just the guitar. Oh yeah, and Morgan if Holly isn’t available I’m so in to sing her part on Hold On To Your Heart – one of my favourite songs off the album.
Here’s the live version of My Brother Went to Prison – which is a song that’s video is banned in Quebec for being too sexual
And here’s a live version of “Let It Go”, his last song of the night.
If you haven’t heard any of Morgan’s solo stuff you should check him out online and download his album “Let It Go” on iTunes
I’ll post the videos of Rumer tomorrow. She was amazing and such a strong singer. You’ll love her!
Can you believe that it’s the middle of February? And that Valentines Day is next week? So far 2012 has been a bit of a slow, hard year but it’s getting better every day, in my opinion. I have been crazy busy with work this week and also got out to some events, which I have yet to post about because I can’t find my battery charger, camera cord or card reader to download the photos! Morgan Cameron Ross was AMAZING at the Mod Club (as usual) and I got to hear the newest songstress out of the UK – Rumer (I promise I will find my stuff to upload this weekend!) Mom & I also went to the Pure + Simple Rosacea Skincare launch and I had a work hang/dinner date with Miss Hummel who I missed SOO much.
Today is going to be crazy busy as Friday’s tend to be so here is your Show & Tell:
It’s been a year since the Tsunami in Japan and the National Post had a brilliant article yesterday with photos of the before and after. It’s amazing to see the devastation and how barren it looks in some places.
Whether you like Howard Stern or hate him you need to listen to what he says on his show this week about all the Anti-Gay hate that is running rampant in middle America. I want every single person to stand up for what is right and share this message #NOH8
This week has been crazy busy with moving and unpacking. Yesterday we got a brand new mattress & boxspring from Sears and had the best sleep ever last night. I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning at all. It’s a pain in the butt not being able to find things yet but I’m going to spend the whole weekend unpacking and organizing so come help! I also lost my computer this morning because I put it on a shelf in the closet where it would be safe and I would remember where I left it. Haha. Took me about 10 minutes of frantic searching before I remembered.
I’ve got to get out the door so I’ll make it to the office on time so here are your Show & Tell links for the week.
Hope you all have a great weekend and seriously come help me unpack!
I’ve been reading Letters of Note lately and it’s a pretty interesting site. This letter from March of 1973 by E. B. White — the author of such books as Stuart Little and Charlotte’s Web — in response to a letter from a Mr. Nadeau, who sought his opinion on what he saw as a bleak future for the human race. “As long as there is one upright man, as long as there is one compassionate woman, the contagion may spread and the
scene is not desolate.“
Full Tool concert video from their stop in Reno on Jan 14/12. I’m sooo sad I missed out on seeing them in Toronto. Tool is AMAZING live and thanks to this guy who filmed the ENTIRE SHOW!!
