Show & Tell: Feb 27/11

Yesterday was the first day that Jason and I had off together in about three weeks and it was absolutely beautiful outside!  We had breakfast and went for a walk on the beach and then one of his friends called to see if we wanted to go out on his boat.  I was a little scared to be out on the ocean but I ended up jumping in and swimming for a minute.  The water was so clear,  green and warm and I loved it!  Think I might be convinced to do it again, but what I’d really like to do is go parasailing!  That adventure is next on my list.

  • Last weekend I went with my friend Jilly to a golf tournament at Fort Myers Beach Golf Club – I got to ride around on the beer cart with her and it was a really fun morning.  If you’re looking for a great day of golfing you should check it out and tell them that you read it on Carly’s blog 🙂
  • An interesting take on getting roses as a gift.  I personally don’t care what kind of flower I get, I just like flowers.  But my favourites are orchids, tulips and daisy’s.  I also love a mixed bouquet or wildflowers.  For me it’s the thought that counts, but what do you think?
  • Will you be going to CMW this year?  Have you got your tickets or wristbands?  I can’t wait to see Down With Webster and the Hummel Entertainment Showcase featuring Hey Romeo & Dawson Reigns!  You can also get tickets for the March 9th showcase here
  • Did you see the marital rating scale booklet Tests for Husbands & Wives that has been making the rounds the past couple weeks.  It’s It’s always strange and funny to see the roles that husbands & wives used to play.  Think I’m going to print this out and give it to some of my married friends to see how they measure up….haha
  • I have been thinking about getting laser eye surgery for a long time — my parents even offered to pay for it — but I have always been too scared to go through with it.  I once was a Mystery Shopper and went to a Lasik clinic in Toronto for the free exam/intro to see if I qualify and my own eye doctor strongly insisted that I don’t go to Lasik.  Salon has an informative article What We Still Don’t Know About Lasik.  It is disgusting that the FDA “screwed up” when they approved it and I feel for the people who have suffered because of the surgery.
  • I love this experiment from It’s Chole – she posted up flyers around NYC that say “Love”and “take as much as you need” with little tear off strips with Love written on them.  It’s a sweet idea and I’d love to see more of this!
  • Do you use herbs & spices when you’re cooking?  I love trying new flavours and when I found this really helpful Quick Guide to Every Herb and Spice in Your Cupboard I had to share it.
  • What the $#%! Should I Make for Dinner is brilliant – I’ve actually used it and made the suggestions – try it out and let me know what you get!
  • Brown University has a really fun Fairytale Generator – you should try it out.  Post your random fairytales in the comments!
  • A real answering machine message from a Public School in Australia – After numerous angry phone calls at the Maroochydore High School in Queensland Australia faculty decided to record this answering machine message.
