My Bud Camp

Back in August Casie and I went to Bud Camp, courtesy of Andrew Gayle & Mosaic.  I posted the video but not any of the photos.  You can see all the photos HERE

We took the bus up with the Bud Girls and the whole group of them were really nice and fun.  It was a long ride and our cell phones stopped working about halfway there.  No service near Napanee and it was a race to see which cell company would work when we got to camp.  My Bell phone worked most of the way and I was able to get reception at some places in the camp.

First night was a party, they had a cover band from Quebec that were pretty awesome and we stayed got shuttled back to our bed & breakfast around 2am.  Didn’t get woken up on Saturday until 11am and we missed out on White Water Rafting (but we didn’t care).

We had the choice of staying in one of these cabins – no heat, hydro, bathrooms or at a bed & breakfast offsite.  We chose the bed & breakfast offsite & shared it with Brock & T-Rex (the 1 Love TO guys) and their friend Avery.

I’m clashing all over the place.  Red & pink all weekend.

Me with some babes

It was POURING rain and freezing cold, so we ate breakfast and sat in front of the fire.  Ended up meeting Colin & Troy, who also didn’t make it to rafting.  Colin runs Boonstock, which Hail The Villain played at on their summer tour and Troy is a crazy snowmobiler on Team Thunderstruck.  Ended up spending the day with them and a couple other people who didn’t make it to the activities, keeping dry & warm, drinking and walking around when there was a break in the rain.

This is me & Casie not 4 wheeling in the rain.

We seemed to be a bit of a novelty at the camp.  Non-Bud girls and Non-Winners.  Everyone wanted to take pictures with us.  These guys may or may not have just told us they found a bar close by.

This was our little chipmunk friend outside one of the cabins we hung out in.  He was super friendly and came right up and took nuts out of Troy’s hand.  Casie didn’t really like the chipmunk :)

This is Casie & I not doing Paintball – although we didn’t do the activities we had a blast.  I love doing Bud Camp our way.

And then the Vitamin water silly starts.

Guess who’s feet were cold and wet?

The food at Bud Camp was amazing.  They actually had vegetarian options and I was in heaven.  This was a veggie chili in a bread bowl and it saved my life after a day of drinking.  Eating this is what led to me not having to leave the party early :)

On Saturday night The Arkells played and it was my first time hearing them live.  I got to be up on someone’s shoulders for most of the show until security made us get down.  After the show was a huge fireworks display and then they lit a car on fire.  Crazy.  Everyone was cool at Bud Camp.  There weren’t any fights that I saw/heard of, people were just laughing, dancing and partying.

After the Bud Girls went back to their hotel it turned into an all guys dance party.  It was so hilarious to watch all the jocks try and show each other up.  Guys were doing flips, kartwheels, handstands and ripping off their shirts.  I’ve never seen anything like it and we couldn’t stop watching.  So crazy.

Thanks to Andrew Gayle and everyone at Mosaic & Bud Camp for taking us up there and showing us a great time.  I hope we get to go again next year and I hope we get to go on the Bud Light Cruise!

The Watchmen at Horseshoe

One of my favourite Canadian bands from the 90′s are The Watchmen and I got to see them last Saturday with Rhi.  They sang all my favourites, Say Something, Any Day, Stereo and That’s Just The Way.  I was so excited to see them play again and it was a great show.

Danny from The Watchmen

My friend Morgan’s band opened the show “Birds of Wales” and they were so awesome.

Here’s the video I got of “That’s Just The Way”

Woah. Just made it in time to count as a post for today.

The Ladies at TIFF

This is the photo I was looking for from our FoMo party the other night.  I have such pretty friends :) Missing a couple of us. xoxo

I met with Morgan from Birds of Wales earlier this week and he invited me to come see his band  open for The Watchmen at the Horseshoe last night.

Morgan brought me a Winnie The Pooh. Good way to start a meeting :)

I went with Rhianne and we had a really good time, didn’t get home last night til 4am and I’m pretty tired today. It was both of our first time seeing Birds of Wales and they are really good live.  Ended up bumping into my friend Rose, who does Morgan’s hair and works at Brennen Demelo and it was a really fun night.  I hadn’t seen The Watchmen play in probably 10 years and it was such a good show.  Definitely brought back high school nostalgia :) (hi to anyone from Brock who reads this).   We hung around til the end and went to Lakeview with Morgan, his guitar player & girlfriend and I had my 3rd breakfast meal of the day.  Pretty awesome night.

This afternoon I got to hang out with my Mom.  It was so nice to spend the time together just the two of us.  We went to the Clothing Show, thanks to Marie for the tickets and designer envelope :) I got a really nice sweater dress from Embody and the girls at the booth were so nice.  The photo is me with the owner Tara White.

I need to go have a nap now cause I’m wiped and Diggy is DJ-ing at Tattoo tonight.  I’d like to go but it depends if I wake back up tonight or sleep right through.

Here is a video of Birds of Wales performing “Not All Musicians Are Broke”.  Have one of The Watchmen too but it’s taking forever to upload.  Will post it and the photos tomorrow.

TIFF Party at FoMo

Last Thursday Fairlie Agency talent Angela Cullins hosted a TIFF party at FoMo.  We had a great night and tons of people came out.  We drank Moet and had a few arm wrestling competitions.  I did not win :) After the Fomo party Me, Rhi, Krista, Carri, Adam & 2 of his friends went to the Casino Jack afterparty (no idea where it was).  I met Kevin Spacey and chatted with him for about 15 minutes.  He was a really nice and interesting guy.  We closed the bar down and headed over to McDonald’s for some late night food.  There was the craziest, bitchiest girl freaking out because she got the wrong chicken sandwich.  She was pretty rude and obnoxious and I really wanted to say something to her, but didn’t want to end up in a fight with some random crazy.  We had a super fun night and I’m so happy the ladies came out.  Love you girls.

It seems that there aren’t any photos of me, Carri, Krista & Rhianne – so if you guys have one send it to me so I can add it!

Here are some photos from FoMo and you can check out my Picasa for the rest of the images.

Show & Tell: Sept 24/10

I’m on Day 5 of my 30 Days of Blogging personal challenge and so far so good.  It feels really good to take some time for myself and do something I really enjoy.  I hope you guys are liking it too, even though a couple of the post have been really short.  Tonight I’ve been invited to the Stella Artois Draft Master Finals and there’s still time to RSVP if you want to come out.  Really looking forward to drinking some more beer…. I’ve been a little under the weather the last few days.  I haven’t been sleeping well, or really taking care of myself due to a ridiculously busy schedule and it finally caught up with me.  Tomorrow night I get to see Birds of Whales play with The Watchmen at The Horseshoe and I am really excited to see both bands live.  It will be my first time seeing either of them.

  • If you’re in Toronto and looking for something interesting to do this weekend then you should check out the Grand Opening of Evergreen Brick Works
Evergreen Brick Works is a community environmental centre that inspires and equips visitors to live, work and play more sustainably. Evergreen, a national charity, has transformed the former Don Valley Brick Works from a collection of deteriorating heritage buildings into an international showcase for urban sustainability and green design that is open year-round.”
  • Found this breathtaking photos of the night sky on Gala’s site last week.  You have to take a look.
  • One of my actors Joe Silvaggio sent me the article The Road to Recovery for Michael Vick’s Dogs this week.  It is an amazing and inspiring article about what happened to the 51 pitbulls rescued from his dog fighting facilities.  I think the most important thing to take from this is that PITBULLS ARE NOT BAD DOGS.  Out of 51 dogs, who had been abused, tortured and trained to fight and kill, 47 have been successfully rehabilitated and are living in dog sanctuaries, among other dogs and some have even been adopted.  This article should be spread around and shared with anyone who agrees with breed specific legislation.
  • I’ve written about my friend Lyall here before.  He’s a really interested and talented artist who’s show Coping Mechanism’s is on at The Cannery in Peterborough right now.  I love his unicorn paintings the most.
  • Vanity Fair has a good article about Sean Parker, the founder of Napster & Facebook.  Really interesting read via Nubby
  • Ever wondered what a McDonald’s hamburger from 1996 looks like…. 12 years later?
  • If you haven’t check out Currybomb‘s blog yet, you better head on over and get caught up.  I love her!

That’s it for me today.  I’m going to sit outside on the porch, finish my work in the sun and hopefully feel human again.  I’ll leave you with a photo of Hector, one of the rehabilitated dogs, and the video below is Glee! covering Britney Spear’s Toxic.

Robyn Dell’Unto Album Release

Last night I was invited to Robyn Dell’Unto‘s debut album release at Supermarket.  I’d been sent a preview of her album earlier in the week and really couldn’t wait to hear her live.

She was such an great performer and I really love her sound.  A really pretty, folky voice mixed with a bit of a dirty mouthed banter and the crowd loved her.  She had hers sisters were working the merch booth and one of them got up to sing with her on a song.  She’s gone on tour for the next month and then back to Toronto where I’ll hopefully get a chance to interview her.

Thanks so much to Cam & Todd of Cool Planet Entertainment for the invite!

Here’s a video of her last song “Just A Bird”

If the silence takes you then I hope it takes me too…

Almost missed posting today.  Have to leave for class shortly.  I missed last week because of TIFF but it was ok.  Realized today that I had homework.  I completely forgot about homework and have never been a fan, but oh well.  Got it done in time.

I’m really missing Chad lately.  It’s hard to not be able to talk every day or see him.  We skype & Google chat as much as we can but the wifi on his bus isn’t very good so it always boots him off.  I can’t wait for him to come home in October.  Only 2 more weeks til I get to see him and then he’s here for a week and back on tour for another month.

Had a really busy & productive day today.  Brock came over to work on some top secret projects, Carri was here sewing a really nice pouch for her new job.  Rhi & Maggie came over to play and pee on the floor – Maggie not Rhi – and Kyle & Aime cleaned up.

Tonight is the album release for Robyn Dell’Unto‘s debut album. I got a sneak preview copy from her management and it is really good.  I can’t wait to see her perform live tonight.

OK, short and sweet today.  Back tomorrow with some good stuff.  I’ll leave you this photo of me and Adam Booth (one of my actors) arm wrestling at a champagne bar.  Keepin’ it classy :)

Wake Up And Get Real

I’ve been up since 6:30am because I couldn’t sleep anymore and just found Kelly Cutrone & Justine Bateman’s online show called Wake Up And Get Real.  I can’t believe I haven’t seen or heard of this before and I’m hooked.  The latest episode talks about the ridiculous new Hollywood fad diet the “Baby Food Diet”.  I can’t believe people are really that ridiculous that they would eat baby food.  Justine makes a great point that babies eat when they’re hungry, stop when they’re full and are active all day long – maybe more people should try that.

Last night I went to Flirty Girl Fitness with Raymi to try out Pole Dancing.  I have to admit I was a little scared and slightly intimidated by it, but as soon as we walked in the door I was ready.  The studio is really nice, staff is all very cute and friendly and the pole dancing was actually really fun.  I picked it up right away and I think I’m going to go back and take some more classes.

After our exercise we went over to Marben to have a glass of wine and Raymi’s friend Alex, is the chef there.  He made us an amazing tomato salad and bass.  The food was amazing and the fish was so good I actually ate it!

Then we went to Bier Market on King to meet a new friend of hers.  We walked in the door and the host gave us so much attitude and completely gave me the stink eye when he handed me my menu.  I honestly couldn’t believe how rude he was.  The our waitress copped attitude and everyone was super snotty.  We ordered a dessert that was supposedly made that day and it was old, dry and not very good at all.  I definitely won’t be going back there.  The only good thing about the place was that I got to hear HTV on the satellite radio.

I was on my way up to Queen when Shaun called to see what I was up to and he & some friends were on their way to Hideout so I went to meet them for a drink.  I was there about 5 minutes before and got accosted by some really drunk Netherland-ers.  Made friends with the biggest bartender and then Shaun walked in with his bro & John from Ill Scarlett to save me.  Love seeing and hanging out with Shaun.  FYI – John has a way bigger head and is a way bigger person than me.

Have a lot of work to get done today and then I’m going to go downtown to meet Shaun to re-pierce my nose for the 3rd time.  It’s also Busking for Change all over the city today and you’ll be able to hear some of your favourite Canadian major label & indie artists.  Make sure you bring your change with you because all proceeds go to War Child Canada.  Check out the site to see who’s playing and where.
