Show and Tell: Mar 27/10

I’m working during the day this weekend to get caught up on things.  It’s been a really busy month for me and there is no sign of things slowing down.  I have 2 new interns starting at my agency next week and I’m really looking forward to it and I’ve got to get ready for them to come.  This is my first Show and Tell under and I’s a a day late weekend edition so there’s double the links this week.

  • Tonight at 8:30pm join the world in Earth Hour and turn off all your power.  Imagine what we’d save if people did this every month, or every day.
  • If you haven’t already checked it out, you’ve got to have a look at the new Hail The Villain website and explore the Metal City.  You’ve never seen a band website like this before.
  • I have never heard of the Penthouse Slums before, and it was hard to believe that people can live like this
  • I have been nerding out all week online and this was a good read 11 Essential Social Media Resources You May Have Missed from Mashable
  • I love antiques and these vintage beer cans from Lovely Package are really cool
  • This article disgusts me.  A mother, who calls herself “The Human Barbie” is injecting her 16 year old daughter with Botox.  This mother should be investigated for child abuse and her daughter needs a serious reality check.
  • This article about Prada Japan is also pretty disappointing, but I’m honestly not surprised given how shallow the fashion industry is.  Don’t get me wrong, I love fashion and it is part of what I do, but there are lots of ugly things in this industry.
  • Have you ever wanted to have a microphone in the shower?  Would you settle for a sponge mic?  Check out 20 Gadgets that Innovate Ordinary Things
  • This is a really interesting project.  Taking old photographs and comparing them to their current incantation
  • I actually found this Table of Condiments That Periodically Go Bad pretty helpful and accurate
  • Last year I planted a bunch of herbs and vegetables in our garden, but animals ate them as soon as they started growing and then my landlord had someone dig up our garden.  I found this great idea for growing herbs in a shoe organizer
  • My Uncensored Point of View is Coco Rocha’s response to articles written about her being “too fat” to model
  • Heartless Bitches states their view on Nice Guys and why they finish last
  • This is a great guide to Twitter for Beginners by CNet
  • Steve Pavlina wrote a great article on 30 Days to Success – basically if you get yourself into a routine for 30 days, you will be successful at accomplishing your goals.  On Monday I started 30 days of Blogging, which I hope will get me into the routine of putting aside a period of time each day for writing.  I’m aiming for 5 posts a week minimum.

I’ll leave you with some photos of two of my favourite modern pinup girls: Masuimi Max and Micheline Pitt
